The Value of Accountability
When you begin your weight loss journey, you are filled with enthusiasm, the thrill of getting up early to hit the gym or jump into your exercise routine, the sudden love of all things healthful, and the image of what you expect to look like is fresh in your mind.
After a week of early rising, saying yes to huge salads and no to that caramel frappaccino, and enduring the ache in muscles you didn’t know you had, that image you held so dear begins to get a little fuzzy, and you start to think that life as it is really isn’t all that bad.
That is when having a friend in the trenches with you is so valuable.
There are days when I don’t want to exercise, I don’t want to eat well, I want to get that caramel frappe, those chocolate chip cookies my kids are eating look extra delicious, and I want to throw in the towel because I am not seeing the results fast enough…. so I text my accountability partner.
She gives me the encouragement I need to stay the course, to jump on my exercise bike, to remember my goal, and to not give up. She also has helped me to reevaluate the food restrictions/diet I have put on myself and has reminded me to balance restrictions with good food choices.
We are walking this path together. We are able to encourage each other to not give up. We are able to cheer for each other no matter how large or small our loss for the week is. We are able to remind each other of our goals.
The weight loss journey is too hard to walk alone.
Find someone who will walk with you.
