Snack Time: My Favorite Healthy Snacks

I don’t know about you, but when I am trying to eat healthy and workout my hunger goes into overdrive and my cravings change a TON.  So, for my post today I wanted to share a few of my favorite things to snack on that are healthy and beneficial to my, and hopefully, your journey. 
Just to let you know, before I get started sharing my favorite snacks, that I am not a nutritionist, nurse, or any form of medical professional.  If you have any questions if you should try any of these items and are on a special diet, please consult your medical professional before trying something new. 
Veggies- I LOVE veggies.  I know that there are some that can’t stand vegetables and that’s ok.  I can eat them raw, cooked, roasted, etc.  For snack, I usually pair them with hummus or some ranch dip that I make.  The ranch dip is really easy.  Get a packet of ranch dressing seasoning and mix it with some PLAIN Greek yogurt.  Yummy.
Fruit– I try to stick to apples, peaches, and berries when snacking.  Those are my favorites and I can eat them all day.  I am very careful that I don’t through, since they contain natural sugar.  I do avoid grapes and bananas for snacks.   If I plain on eating either of those, I will eat them in the morning where I have all day to work them off.  They are the highest in natural sugar and grapes have very little fiber. 
Greek Yogurt– Full of protein!  Plus, they have it in coconut flavor.  J 
Almonds– I love having nuts for a snack…but you have to make sure you eat nuts in moderation.  They are a wonderful, portable snack. 
Protein Bars-  I make sure that I have a protein bar with me at all times.  I look for the ones that are low carb and not filled with calories.  I also want to make sure that they are as close to natural as possible.  I know that some of them are filled with chemicals and extras that are not necessary.  If you chose to eat these for a snack, make sure you check the label first. 
Dark Chocolate–  This one is not exactly healthy, but I LOVE my chocolate.  This is an occasional snack and even then…it’s one piece.  I get the packages of single wrapped Dove chocolates.  Eat only one and my chocolate craving is gone.
Well, these are a few of the things I like to snack on and I hope that I could give you an idea or two.
