Plan to Reward Yourself
Yes, I am a big fan of being rewarded for a job well done. I guess if you wanted to reward me for just being me I would be good with that too. I mean really, who doesn’t want to hear: Job Well Done! – You’re Awesome! – I Couldn’t Have Done It Without YOU! Or how about maybe even a special treat or gift for all your awesomeness? Come on – be honest! You know you love that! It may not be the reason you do something (and shouldn’t be), but it most definitely feels amazing when you receive such praise.
I will admit that some of my favorite “rewards” for myself involve food or relaxation of some kind (aka: sweets and being lazy). Mmmmm…. fresh baked cookies or brownies. Maybe some Salt & Vinegar Chips if I’m feeling salty. Couple that with snuggle time with the kiddos (or maybe even the hubby) and a movie – I’m feeling rewarded! (Now you know how I got myself into this whole “over weight” mess in the first place.)
But wouldn’t that just completely defeat the purpose of what I’m doing here? I mean, how can I justify eating a brownie as a Hooray! for losing 2 pounds? Do I want to put it right back on?
So since I love my rewards so much – what should I be rewarding myself with?
Well, I’m sure there are tons of different ways out there (and I would love to hear yours). But I started thinking – I’m going to need a whole new wardrobe when it’s finally time for me to just maintain my weight! Soooo…. why not reward myself by starting a “New You – New Look” fund!?! I figure I’m going to loose about half a person so I’m definitely going to need new clothes!
So I have started saving $10 for each pound I lose and tucked it away in it’s own little envelope. By the time I meet my goal weight (of 115 lbs) I will have saved $650 for my New Me – New Look Wardrobe! How awesome is that?
What do you think?
How do you reward yourself for a job well done?
